Our Thermal Coal Projects
The Kangala Mine, producing 2.1 million tonnes of saleable coal per annum, is located approximately 65km east of Johannesburg, in the Witbank coalfield in Mpumalanga Province, of which supplies more than 50% of South Africa’s saleable export and domestic coal.
The NCC Roodekop Coal Mine, located 35 km south of the town Witbank, is Universal Coal’s second operation. New Clydesdale Colliery comprises of opencast operation, which is extended by the underground workings at NCC Diepstruit section.
The Ubuntu Coal Project is located in the Delmas District, 20km south of our Kangala Mine. Universal Coal owns 50.29% of the project which has already been awarded a Mining Right, Environmental authorization and Water Use license
Our Coking Coal Projects
The Berenice Coking Coal Project, is located in the Soutpansberg coalfield, which is situated north of the Soutpansberg mountain range in South Africa’s Limpopo province. A Mining Right application has been lodged with the Department of Mineral Resources.
